10 Best Smart Lights
One of the easiest ways to get into smart home gadgets is to install smart lights, which can be controlled and automated using voice commands, smartphones or other wireless devices. There are more options than ever before when it comes to smart light bulbs and smart switches, so you can finally give up your old lights. As a result of the uptick in competition, there are plenty of affordable options available.
Wyze Bulb
After all, the cheapest smart light bulb is one of the best smart light bulbs out there. We’re talking about Wyze Bulb from Seattle based startup Wyze Labs. It can be received directly from the company’s website for about 11 Pounds per piece and shipping. Wi Fi radio is built into each bulb, so you can add additional hub hardware to your router to use it or connectto Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant (or IFTTT) for voice control. No need to connect. Simply screw it in, turn it on, pair itwith the Wyze mobile app, and shine in a clean, clean smart light. These are also pretty good light bulbs, except they are ridiculously cheap. To get started, each offers a full range of white light color temperature settings, from warm, candle-like 2,700K to hotter, whiter daylight tones approaching 6,000K. It will be hard to find another smart light bulb that does this for less than 20 Pounds, not to mention the one that does this for less than 10 Pounds. In addition, the Wyze bulb is one of the brightest I’ve tested,
Philips Hue Foodlight LED
There aren’t as many smart floodlights as the classic A-shaped smart LED bulbs, but the options are getting bigger and bigger. This includes a fairly significant new addition from the recently released Philips Hue, which recently released a floodlight version of the popular Hue WhiteSmart LED bulb above. I like the white floodlights on the Philips Hue for the same reason I like regular light bulbs. Bright, this smart LED bulb is efficient and affordable. And it’s part of a very good smart lighting platform for everything. Like Hue’s other new bulbs, the new floodlight uses both Bluetooth and Zigbee, so you can skip the Hue Bridge and pair it directly with your
Lifx Mini LED
As I said, if you’re looking to add elegant pop colours to your home lighting system, I think Lifx lights are at the top of your list. The brand sells a variety of light bulbs and smart lights, all of which produce bright, nice-looking colors that can be connected to Alexa, Siri, or the Google Assistant without the need for a hub. For 30 Pounds , the Lifx Mini is a bit fashionable compared to some of the new cheap smart light bulbs I’ve seen recently, but it’s still the best option if you’re interested in bright, vibrant colours. Despite being a mini-brand, it’s actually brighter than the Philips Hue’s colour-changing bulbs, and the colours look great and realistic, surpassing all the other competitors we’ve tested so far. A fully functional app is also a bright spot, with easy app control of lights via a convenient colour wheel, as well as many others.
Lifx Z Multicolor Light Strip
Lifx is also a pretty clear winner when it comes to colour-changing light strips, the 9.8-foot Lifx Z light strips. It’s not cheap, but the colours look just like Lifx bulbs, and you can output multiple colours at once, giving you a lot of space to create custom scenes and animation effects. Even Philips Hue has no top competitors that make light bulbs that can emit multiple colours at once. The Lifx Z Starter Kit usually costs quite a bit over 90 Pounds. Some people bought something that was sold behind the TV in the living room a few years ago, but were not happy with the product
Lutron Caseta In-Wall Dimmer Switch
All the smart switches that have been tested in smart homes, our longtime favorite is the Lutron Caseta. Lutron is the mainstay of aisle lighting, and its lighting switches use a unique signal called ClearConnect. So you need a Lutron Bridge to connect to your router, but the good news is that ClearConnect is about as fast and reliable as the wireless protocol. In addition to its rugged performance, Lutron’s Caseta switches come in a variety of colors and designs, including the dimmable version shown here, as well as a standard on / off switch and a wall-mounted remote that acts as a second. I can do it. For 3-way setup, audio control switch that synchronizes with Sonos, and fan control that automates the ceiling fan. If you really want to make it bigger, you can also add Lutron’s gorgeous automated blinds to your setup.
Smart light bulbs are a great way to immerse your toes in the water of your smart home (opens in a new tab). You can’tchange your life overnight, but tinkering with it is definitely a fun little gadget. They will definitely impress guests, and theycan also prove to be surprisingly useful (perhaps you can illuminate the kitchen when someone enters).
